Dear members & friends of MRC, Good afternoon. Now attached is an audio of this morning's ABC Radio interview (the version that went to air was slightly trimmed down). Thanks to Sam Emery (reporter), Steven Turner (producer) and Robbie Buck & Wendy Harmer from ABC Radio Sydney’s Breakfast Show for making the time for us. Guy Morgan | President
The whole crew of our 2019 Australian Champion U19M4 have been selected into the Australian Junior Rowing Team. Torben Ungemach and Nikolas Pender have been selected into the Australian Junior Men’s Coxless Four; whilst Nicholas Rath and Lexi McClean have been selected into the Australian Junior Men’s Coxed Four. Mosman Rowing Club’s Matthias Ungemach will take charge of the Junior Men’s Four, while the Junior Men’s Coxed Four will be coached by Judith Ungemach. Australia will send six crews to the World Rowing Junior Championships, to be held in Tokyo, Japan from 7 to 11 August 2019.
Sean Murphy, coached by Matt Ungemach, today sculled a huge, brave race to win bronze in the U23 World Championships in Poznan, Poland. He did himself, Matt, and the Club proud. Sean started his rowing life in the Winter Program in 2012, and then represented Australia in the Junior M4- in the Junior World Championships. He was invited to join the National Training Centre Senior A athletes but elected to come back to Mosman so he could finish his physiotherapy degree. He made the Senior A LM1X final in the 2018 mini-World Championships in Lucerne. If you saw the video, you will have seen how absolutely delighted he was with his medal, and he should have been. It’s a tribute to him, and to Matt’s coaching. READ MORE
