ADULT LEARN TO ROW AT MOSMAN
An adult who has never rowed may apply to join our Learn To Row Program.
The Learn To Row program is a structured and progressive program held in parallel to the four school terms with one session a week for eight weeks.
Sessions available are Saturdays, 8.00-9.30am, or Sundays, 6.30am-8.00am, or 8.00-.9.30am. The boats are quad sculls (four rowers). MRC will attempt to accommodate crewing requests but as in all rowing this cannot be guaranteed.
The course has two levels, novice and intermediate. At the completion of each level, your coach provides feedback on your progress, and the right level for you in the following term. Generally, two terms are spent at each level, but this varies depending on the individual.
The first two terms are $400 per eight weeks, the 3rd and consecutive terms are $350 per eight weeks. The fees include all coaching and equipment.
It is vital to note that even at the beginner level, rowing requires a certain level of strength and agility. Aerobic demands are mild, but boats must be lifted overhead, and bodies compressed during the stroke. It is often advisable to complete a season of strength and flexibility work before taking up rowing.
Mosman Rowing Club reserves the right to assess and refuse applicants for the sake of their own safety and welfare, and that of others.
Conditions of entry to the program include being able to swim 100m in gym gear, and having adequate upper body strength to lift the boat as part of the crew, and also yourself back into the boat in the unlikely event of a capsize.
Please note: Learn to Row is a stand-alone program and is not a membership level of Mosman Rowing Club.
