Mosman members to represent Australia in surf boat rowing Congratulations to MRC members Jordan Thurlow and Trent Rogers who, as part of a South Curl Curl SLSC crew, have won selection as Australian representatives in next year’s Trans-Tasman Surf Boat Series which, of course, will be against New Zealand.  It’s an outstanding achievement for two family men with busy jobs to beat convincingly crews many years younger than they are. Jordan Thurlow (left), Trent Rogers (second left) Last weekend's regattas Here are the results from the Reindeer Regatta and the NSW Sprints Regatta.  Well done everyone! I went to SIRC to watch some of the races on Saturday. There was a great feeling around the MRC trailers with many different age groups represented.  As well, Judith [...]

Congratulations to Sean Murphy, regatta news, new gear, social event, entries, wombats, videos Congratulations to Sean Murphy MRC member Sean Murphy has been selected to represent Australia in the Senior A Lightweight Quad at the 2017 World Championships in Saratosa, Florida in September.  He will relocate to the National Training Centre in Canberra in April. On Friday, I received the following note from Matthias Ungemach, our Director of Rowing. Last Saturday (11 March) we sent Sean Murphy with his single on his own car to the Rowing Australia Senior A Trials held at Penrith.  I said: "...enjoy the experience and learn". Our target was the U23 team...Sean left with the words,"...this will be like a rowing holiday....awesome" I am pleased to inform you that, after one week of [...]

March Madness, Results, Senior A Trials, Winter schools program, ANZAC Day, Wombat, Video March Madness! Not US college basketball, but activity at Pearl Bay! March is a particularly busy month at Pearl Bay with the development squads and the school programs reaching the end of their season and the masters steadily increasing their training intensity with an eye on their States and Nationals in May. So, if problems such as pontoon queues, tinny washes, near misses and boat availability arise, let’s cut each other some slack. Results from last weekend Last weekend was an excellent one for the club at the Riverview Gold Cup, despite the rough conditions. As I reported on Sunday each of our three eights (women’s D and men’s D and G) won well. See [...]

Taree regatta this weekend A large contingent of younger members from Linda’s squad and also masters are heading to the Taree regatta this weekend.  Good luck to everyone! RFF roster changed, LTR substitute coaches, Final subs reminder, Abusive Wombat, Video of the week RFF roster – important change Thank you to everyone who chipped in and served as an RFF coach in Terms 2 or 3. It took a big load off members such as Tim Sheridan who have given years of RFF service. Unfortunately, I have decided to discontinue the Rowing for Fitness Roster. The main reason is that the RFF rowers much preferred having just one or two coaches over the term. Sally Maspero and Stephen Morton have kindly agreed to be the RFF coaches this term. The committee is looking at a longer-term RFF solution, starting in Term 1 of 2017. LTR substitute coaches We have a full complement of LTR coaches though, [...]
